Der Winkelspiegel ist komplexer als es im ersten Moment erscheint. Das Bausatzteil ist nur rudimentär gefertigt und wird daher ausgetauscht. Der Winkelspiegel selbst sitzt beim Original in einer Halterung aus Bakelit. Diese ist mit einer Spannvorrichtung montiert, um im Falle einer Beschädigung den Spiegel schnell tauschen zu können. Der Spiegel ist kippbar, um das Gesichtsfeld nach oben und unten zu erweitern. Alles zusammen war drehbar auf einer Tellerplatte montiert, die auf das Dach des Jagdtigers aufgeschraubt war. Die Spiegelpanzerung war durch diese Platte verbolzt und deckte den Spiegel ab. Siehe dazu auch die Zeichnung „021B 50945 Winkelspiegel“
Alle Teile sind aus Aluminium gefertigt. Die Spiegelpanzerung entstand aus 18mm Alu und wurde anschließend auf der Drehmaschine angepasst. Der Teller und das Gegenstück habe ich aus 5mm Aluminium gefertigt. Danach wurden alle Teile auf ihre jeweiligen Endmaße gefräst. Wie im Original sind alle Teile miteinander verbolzt, oder verschraubt.
The angled mirror (Winkelspiegel) is more complex than it appears at first glance. The kit part is only rudimentarily manufactured and therefore needs to be replaced. The angled mirror itself is mounted in an Bakelite holder in the original. This is mounted with a tensioning device to quickly replace the mirror in case of damage. The mirror is tiltable to expand the field of view upwards and downwards. Everything together was mounted rotatably on a plate that was screwed onto the roof of the Jagdtiger. All parts are made of aluminum. The mirror armor was made of 18mm aluminum and then adjusted on the lathe. I made the plate and the counterpart from 5mm aluminum. Then all parts were milled to their respective final dimensions. As in the original, all parts are bolted or screwed together.
